What is a rashifal?

Rashifal means the result for your rashi. It is a short reading of how the day may go. In India it is usually read by your Moon sign, not your Sun sign. That is why newspapers list Mesh, Vrishabh, Mithun, Kark and the rest.

How a daily horoscope is made

Planets keep moving. The Moon moves fastest, and changes sign every two to three days. The other planets move more slowly.

This movement is called gochar, or transit. Astrologers compare today's planets with your birth chart. For example, when the Moon passes your 10th house, work tends to be in focus. When it passes your 4th house, home and family come to the front.

Why a general rashifal feels vague

A newspaper rashifal is written for one twelfth of all people at once. Everyone with the same Moon sign gets the same lines. It cannot see your lagna, your houses or the dasha you are running.

A personal horoscope starts from your own chart. Two people with the same Moon sign can have different lagnas, different houses and different dashas. So the same day can mean different things for each of them.

How Karmik's daily horoscope works

Each day, Karmik looks at that day's real planet positions. They come from the Astronomy Engine library, which is tested against NASA JPL data. Karmik compares them with your own birth chart, using the Lahiri ayanamsa and whole-sign houses.

You get a short reading for the day, written in simple words, in English or Hindi. It is free. Along with it, you get a free tarot card of the day.

If something in the reading makes you curious, ask a follow-up question in your own words. You get 5 free questions at signup and 2 more every day.
